Adult Treatment Programs

Adult Treatment Programs

Saint Simons By-The-Sea provides mental health and substance use addiction programs for adults, ages 18 and older. Our clinical approach encourages the patient to be an active participant in their treatment. A comprehensive evaluation identifies the appropriate level of care and the specific program that will best fit each individual’s clinical needs.

Our inpatient treatment programs provide psycho-social assessment, psychiatric evaluation, medication management, group and family therapies, recreational therapy, life-skills training, medication education, nutritional counseling, 24-hour nursing care and discharge planning. By discharge, we hope to have fostered stability and recovery, identified the underlying issue(s), provided a diagnosis/diagnoses, as well as identified and helped our patients begin a path of success.

Mental Health Care

The adult psychiatric unit is most appropriate for individuals suffering from mental health crisis associated with depression, mood, anxiety, psychosis or other psychiatric disorders. Therapies utilize principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT), solution-focused therapy and mindfulness techniques.

Substance Use Addiction Treatment

Utilizing a dual diagnosis approach to drug and alcohol addiction treatment, the goals on this unit are recovery and stability. While providing medical detoxification, we help our patients discover any underlying causes or psychological issues. Group and family therapies utilize the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT), the 12-step program, relapse prevention and drug/alcohol education. If appropriate, some patients may continue treatment in our acute rehab program, further building towards sustainable recovery while in a structured and secure inpatient setting.

Intensive Outpatient Programs

The overall goal of our intensive outpatient programs (IOP) is supported stability for adults living in the community. IOP is ideal for individuals dealing with daily challenges and stresses of work, family, school and interpersonal relationships who either (a) would benefit from continued stabilization after transitioning from inpatient care, or (b) would benefit from intervention and support with frequent group therapies. We offer two IOP tracks – Mental Health IOP and Substance Use IOP – both with a virtual telehealth option available after the first in-person visit.
