Adult Treatment Programs
Saint Simons By-The-Sea provides mental health and substance use addiction programs for adults, ages 18 and older. Our clinical approach encourages the patient to be an active participant in their treatment. A comprehensive evaluation identifies the appropriate level of care and the specific program that will best fit each individual’s clinical needs.

Treatment for Adults in Southern Georgia
Our inpatient and outpatient treatment programs provide psycho-social assessment, psychiatric evaluation, medication management, group and family therapies, recreational therapy, life-skills training, medication education, nutritional counseling, 24-hour nursing care and discharge planning. By discharge, we hope to have fostered stability and recovery, identified the underlying issue(s), provided a diagnosis/diagnoses, as well as identified and helped our patients begin a path of success.
Inpatient mental health treatment for adults
The adult psychiatric unit is most appropriate for individuals suffering from mental health crisis associated with depression, mood, anxiety, psychosis or other psychiatric disorders. Therapies utilize principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), solution-focused therapy and mindfulness techniques.
Substance use addiction treatment for adults
Utilizing a dual diagnosis approach to drug and alcohol addiction treatment, the goals on this unit are recovery and stability. While providing medical detoxification, we help our patients discover any underlying causes or psychological issues. Group and family therapies utilize the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), the 12-step program, relapse prevention and drug/alcohol education. If appropriate, some patients may continue treatment in our acute rehab program, further building towards sustainable recovery while in a structured and secure inpatient setting.
Intensive outpatient program for adults
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a half-day program held three days per week for adults ages 18 and older. It is designed for individuals who need a higher level of care and more support than traditional weekly therapy, but don’t require the intensity or structure of a full-day program. This program can serve as a step down from inpatient hospitalization or partial hospitalization, or a step up from individual therapy.
