Saint Simons By-The-Sea’s adolescent treatment program is highly specialized and designed for youth ages 12-17 who are suffering from mental health crises associated with severe distress, depression, anxiety, psychosis and other psychiatric disorders. Patients are treated in a therapeutic environment that provides medical and psychiatric stabilization as well as 24-hour nursing care.
We provide our adolescent patients with services such as a psycho-social assessment, psychiatric evaluation, medication management, group and family therapies, recreational therapy, life-skills training, medication education, nutritional counseling and discharge planning. The adolescent program utilizes principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and solution-focused therapy in group and family therapies, which allows the patient to take an active role in their stabilization and recovery. By discharge, we hope to have fostered stability and recovery, identified the underlying issue(s), provided a diagnosis/diagnoses, as well as identified and helped our patients begin a path of success.
