Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) for Adults

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) for Adults

Saint Simons By-The-Sea offers intensive outpatient programs (IOP) to continue your stabilization and recovery after your inpatient stay. Our programs provide a structured environment while enabling the patient to return to home, work and relationships. Patients participate in group therapies utilizing principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and solution-focused therapy. IOP patients attend sessions for three hours a day, three days a week, and have access to a psychiatrist for medication management.

IOP is designed to meet the needs of individuals who usually function at a relatively effective level; however, they are experiencing problems that interfere with family, work, social, school or interpersonal relationships. By allowing the patient to remain in contact with the situation that may contribute to dysfunction, the stressful issues of daily life can be addressed on a day-to-day basis as they occur, rather than within the artificial environment of a more intensive inpatient level of care.

Our IOP services are led by a highly experienced clinical team of master’s level clinicians to provide process, psychoeducational and experiential group sessions to help patients recognize unhealthy thinking patterns, understand how to manage emotions and learn how to change harmful habits. Individualized treatment planning, individual therapy, family therapy and comprehensive aftercare planning are also facilitated for our patients.

IOP for Mental Health

The overall goal of our IOP for mental health care is to support stability for adults returning to and living in the community. IOP is ideal for individuals dealing with daily challenges and stresses of work, family, school and interpersonal relationships who either (a) would benefit from continued recovery interventions after transitioning from inpatient care, or (b) would benefit from the stable support of frequent recovery-focused group therapies.

IOP for Substance Abuse

The overall goal of our IOP for substance abuse is to support stability for adults returning to and living in the community. IOP is ideal for individuals dealing with daily challenges and stresses of work, family, school and interpersonal relationships who either (a) would benefit from continued recovery interventions after transitioning from inpatient care, or (b) would benefit from the stable support of frequent recovery-focused group therapies. Substance abuse IOP patients are also expected to consistently also attend Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings in the community at their convenience outside of the IOP setting.
